Some G7 members are considering imposing sanctions against the state-owned Iran Air. This is due to Iran's recent attack on Israel.
The publication indicates that this step will lead to further restrictions on the Iranian company’s flights to Europe.
According to Bloomberg, the sanctions will be part of a punishment designed to further isolate Iran following its attack on Israel using drones and missiles.
However, a final decision on restrictions against Iran has not been made, since this measure was previously considered in the event that Tehran provided missiles to Moscow.
Sanctions may not have the desired impact on Tehran
Bloomberg writes that any new sanctions on Iran may have limited impact, since Iran Air, the IRGC and Iranian drone manufacturers are already under restrictions.
However, these sanctions failed to prevent Iran from financing the production of the types of weapons used during the attack on Israel.
“Despite this, the allied countries are determined to express their condemnation of the Iranian attack, which for the first time was directed directly against Israel,” the newspaper writes.
Iran attack on Israel
Over the weekend, Iran attacked Israel with drones and missiles. However, the attack was repulsed; Israel was helped in this by the United States and other allies. After this, Western countries began to think about introducing new sanctions against Iran.
