According to the Daily Mail, posture correction expert James Leinhardt assures that sleeping on your stomach is the most harmful to your health.
Leinhardt urged people to stop sleeping in this position, especially with the knee pulled up to the stomach and the arms on either side of the pillow, because it seriously increases the stress on the whole body and especially on the back and neck.
“Lying in this position, you're not just turning your neck, you're twisting it. You're compressing the vertebrae, which gives you goosebumps and neck and back pain," explained the specialist.
As a healthier alternative to sleeping on your stomach, Leinhardt called the side position. At the same time, he recommended placing one pillow between the knees and pressing the second to the chest during the night. According to the specialist, this will avoid the usual turning over on the stomach in a dream and bending the leg at the knee.
