Five missiles were fired at the US military base in Syria from the territory of Iraq

At least five missiles were fired on Sunday from the Iraqi city of Zummar in the direction of a US military base in northeastern Syria.

As reported by Ukrinform, Reuters reported this with reference to its own sources in the Iraqi security forces.

It is noted that for this purpose a rocket launcher mounted on the body of a small truck was used. It was destroyed by the explosion of an unlaunched missile while US military aircraft were in the air. Sources suggest that they may have hit her.

The militants who fired the shots fled in another vehicle, and Iraqi security forces launched a large-scale manhunt for them near the Syrian border.

The attacks came a day after a massive explosion at a military base in Iraq killed an Iraqi security force member on Saturday morning. The causes of the explosion are being investigated.

The day before, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani returned from the USA, where he met with President Joe Biden.

The attack on U.S. forces was the first since early February, when Iran-backed groups in Iraq ended their attacks on U.S. military bases.
