A berry that improves heart and brain health - you only need two servings a day

A new study has shown that if you include this berry in your diet, you can significantly improve brain function and even lower blood pressure.

According to the Express publication, doctor Shirin Gushmand together with her colleagues conducted a clinical study in which 25 healthy elderly people (60-70 years old) participated, informs UAINFO.org with reference to TSN.

Participants in the experiment consumed 26 grams of freeze-dried strawberry powder every day for eight weeks, which is equivalent to 2 servings of fresh berries. This was followed by a withdrawal period where participants did not take the supplement. It lasted 4 weeks. Then they took the powder again for 8 weeks.

During this period, participants' cognitive performance, cardiometabolic state, waist circumference, and blood pressure were measured.

The results were stunning. Those who ate strawberries had a 5.2% increase in cognitive processing speed at the end of the eight-week period. Systolic blood pressure also improved by 3.6%.

According to Dr. Gushmand, previously published studies have already demonstrated some of the benefits of strawberries for cardiovascular health in various populations, so the new experiment nicely supports some of those findings.

Doctors believe that a simple dietary change, such as adding strawberries to your daily diet, can significantly improve the health of older adults.
