Tonight, Israel carried out its promised "retaliation strike" on Iran. As expected, he turned out to be very modest, and Tehran chose to turn a blind eye to him, fearing escalation.
CNN reports this, citing informed intelligence sources.
Israel's retaliatory strike hit an air base near the city of Isfahan in the central part of the country. Judging by the footage, the military facility received severe damage.
Tehran denies this fact, trying to downplay the scale of the incident. Apparently, this is being done in order not to carry out their threats against Israel and not to escalate the situation.
Let us note that in recent days the West has been putting intense pressure on the Israeli authorities, calling for them to abandon a large-scale attack on Iran. In the United States and Europe there were fears that a large operation could provoke a large-scale military conflict in the region. Jerusalem seems to have heeded these entreaties and carried out a rather modest attack.
Both sides of the conflict, apparently, do not want to escalate. CNN confirms this.
“A regional intelligence source (...) said that Tehran is not expected to respond to the strike,” the publication writes.
