The German oncologist named three factors that will help to avoid cancer

The head of the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, Professor Michael Baumann, named three rules, the observance of which will help to reduce the risk of cancer as much as possible. Baumann is sure that it is necessary to give up smoking, eat right and lead an active lifestyle.

Doctors believe that in the vast majority of cases, the cause of cancer is lifestyle, not genetics. Although this factor, as well as the occurrence of random mutations, cannot be discounted, modern doctors still consider lifestyle-related causes to be decisive.

Baumann said that, according to research, about a third of cancer cases, and of all types, are linked to smoking. That is, quitting smoking is already a big step on the way to cancer prevention. If you also play sports and eat right, then, according to the oncologist, you will significantly reduce your risk of developing cancer.

He also added that in the next few decades we will face a significant increase in cancer cases. Thus, by 2040, experts predict that there will be twice as many cancer patients as there are now. Baumann noted that this is connected, among other things, with the growth of the population and life expectancy, as the risk of developing cancer increases with age.
