Russia has begun withdrawing its "peacekeepers" from Nagorno-Karabakh

Russia has begun the process of withdrawing its "peacekeeping" troops from Nagorno-Karabakh, which was seized by Azerbaijan last September. This information has already been confirmed in the Kremlin.

This was announced by the press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmytro Peskov. Earlier, the Azerbaijani mass media reported that the first military units and equipment of the "peacekeeping" contingent had already left the territory of the Khudawang Temple in the Kelbajar district, OBOZ.UA reports, UAINFO.org informs.

The Azerbaijani police have already entered the territory of the Khudawang Temple, where Russian troops used to be stationed.

Now the "peacekeeping" contingent is leaving the base in Khojaly. Local media consider this process "historic" and expect it to be completed in a few days.

The composition of the Russian military contingent included 1,960 servicemen equipped with small arms, 90 armored personnel carriers and 380 units of automobile and special equipment. These troops have been stationed in Karabash since 2020 and were to remain there until 2025.

Note that on September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan took control of Nagorno-Karabakh during a one-day operation.
