A powerful tornado swept through China: there are dead and injured

 A powerful tornado in the Chinese province of Guangdong killed 5 people, injured 33 and caused significant damage to industrial buildings.

A powerful tornado wreaked havoc in the province of Guangdong, located in the southeast of China. According to the Chinese state news agency Xinhua, as a result of bad weather, 5 people died, 33 more were injured, UNN reports.

The tornado covered the city of Zhongluotang in Baiyun District at around 3:00 p.m. local time on Saturday. A weather station in the village of Liantian, about 2.8 kilometers from the site of the tornado, recorded a maximum wind gust of 20.6 meters per second.

According to preliminary estimates by experts, the tornado had the third level of intensity (the highest is the fifth) and traveled about one kilometer on the ground.

As of 22:00 local time, search and rescue operations at the scene of the tragedy have largely been completed. The authorities reported damage to 141 industrial buildings, residential buildings did not receive significant damage.
