Media: The EU is considering sanctions against companies that supply goods for the military needs of the Russian Federation

The European Union is considering the possibility of introducing sanctions against more than a dozen companies that, despite the restrictions, continued to purchase goods in the EU and supply them to Russia.

As "European Truth" writes, this is stated in the draft of the document, which was reviewed by the Bloomberg agency.

According to the document, companies located in the Russian Federation, as well as Turkey, the UAE, China and Hong Kong, despite significant EU trade restrictions, imported millions of euros worth of banned European goods for use by the Russian military and defense complex.

The imports included technology related to navigation systems for missiles, EU-made antennas, and components used in military computer tools, the document said.

As Bloomberg informs, most of this equipment has EU or US markings, and these companies help ensure the technological improvement of the Russian army.

The European Union is also evaluating whether to apply sanctions against a small number of Chinese and Hong Kong companies suspected of providing the Russian Federation with satellite images and other technologies, the agency notes.

Several companies that are being considered for possible sanctions are located outside the Russian Federation, but have ties to Russian and Belarusian individuals and companies, the document says.

Some of the firms that the EU may impose restrictions on were previously under US sanctions, Bloomberg reports.

EU countries are expected to start discussing the new sanctions package later this week.
