According to the data, increasing the proportion of foods with soluble fiber in the diet is one of the proven ways to reduce fat deposits on the stomach. For example, to get 10 grams of soluble fiber, you can eat two small apples, one cup of green peas, or half a cup of beans. Oats, oat bran, rice bran, barley, citrus fruits, strawberries, potatoes also contain it.


Scientific experts explain that fiber is divided into two types: insoluble and soluble. The latter has the property, mixing with water, to form a mass that slows down the digestion process. Thanks to this, the feeling of satiety lasts for a long time.


In addition, in the colon, the mass created from such fiber serves as food for intestinal bacteria that produce short-chain fatty acids, thanks to which the level of satiety hormones (cholecystokinin, GLP-1, PYY) increases. According to scientists, they "turn off" the appetite, thereby helping to reduce the volume of visceral fat located on the abdomen.


"Each additional 10 grams of soluble fiber per day contributes to a 3.7% reduction in visceral fat," the researchers said.
