German Interior Minister Nancy Feser has promised to fight the rising crime rate in the country, in particular by simplifying the procedure for the deportation of people of non-German origin.
This is reported by "European Truth" with reference to Reuters.
Feser commented on data indicating a 5.5% increase in overall crime last year and a 13.5% increase in the number of suspects of foreign origin. According to her, Germany should improve integration and accelerate deportation.
"Foreign criminals must leave Germany much faster. The strict deportation rules we have created must now be applied. Anyone who does not follow the rules must leave," the minister said.
Germany's opposition parties - both more moderate conservatives and the far-right Alternative for Germany - against the background of the published statistics, called for a tougher migration policy, in particular the strengthening of border controls and an increase in the number of deportations.
It should be noted that the number of new asylum applications in Germany decreased significantly in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year.
