For the second time in a month, Russia failed to launch a rocket into space: the Angara could not take off

On April 9, 2024, a day after the cancellation of the Soyuz launch from Baikonur, Roscosmos again postponed the launch of the Angara-A5 launch vehicle from the Vostochny cosmodrome. The rocket never took off.

Roscosmos reports on yet another failure of the Russian space program. At first the launch was planned for 12:00 Kyiv time. The Angara-A5 rocket was supposed to launch the Orion upper stage with a test payload into orbit. However, 24 minutes before the start, the automation stopped the preparation process due to a failure of the pressurization system of the oxidizer tank of the central unit. A new launch date has not yet been announced.

This is the second failure with Russian missiles in a week. On March 21, the launch of the Soyuz spacecraft from the Baikonur cosmodrome was also cancelled.

Angara is a family of Russian modular launch vehicles that are used to launch satellites and spacecraft into orbit. The main customer of the Angara missiles is the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Russia is failing its space program miserably

On November 29, 2023, the Russian cargo ship Progress MS-23 detached from the International Space Station (ISS). Its mission ended and it burned up in the atmosphere over the Pacific Ocean, leaving behind ash and fire. This time we managed to take bright photographs of the Progress MS-23 blazing in the night sky. They instantly went viral.

On August 11, 2023, after a 50-year break, Russia sent the Luna-25 spacecraft to the Moon. A mission that should have been a landmark event for the Russian space program has again ended tragically. At first everything went according to plan. Luna 25 successfully entered lunar orbit and was preparing for landing for several days. However, during the maneuver to transfer to the pre-landing orbit, communication with the device was lost. Roscosmos specialists tried to restore control, but to no avail.

After some time, information appeared that Luna-25 crashed. The device collided with the surface of the Moon.
