Excessive consumption of sweets leads to aggression and mental disorders

Scientists from Colorado (USA) said that the use of sweets threatens not only obesity and the occurrence of a large number of diseases, but also the deterioration of mental health. According to experts, with the dominance of sugar-containing products in the diet, there is a tendency to aggression and mental problems.

Consuming large amounts of fructose has a negative impact on both physical and mental health. Use of the popular, cheap sweetener plays a major role in the development of aggression, bipolar disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Scientists are sure that fructose can reduce the energy level in the cells of the human body.

At the same time, the reaction of food production is activated. It appears when feeling hungry and can stimulate impulsivity and aggression, since in ancient times a person had to risk his life to get food. Experts have reported that the desire for excessive consumption of sweets is an evolutionary mechanism that is necessary for survival. However, since at the moment a person lives in the easy availability of sweet products, this way of survival is not considered relevant.

"With chronic stimulation of this mechanism, suppression of hedonistic reactions can be provoked, which will lead to depression," experts noted. They also added that the hyperactive reaction of the human body to sugar, which is provoked by a high glycemic index, contributes to the appearance of affective mental disorders.
