The partial withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip means the victory of terror. This opinion was expressed by the reporter of the German tabloid Bild, Bjorn Stritzel, who worked in Israel and Gaza after the terrorist attack on October 7.
He recalled that six months ago, Palestinian terrorists killed more than 1,000 Jews, robbed, raped and kidnapped 250 hostages who were taken to the Gaza Strip.
"Six months later, under pressure from the international community, the Israeli army announced the withdrawal of a large part of its troops from Gaza, and Hamas propaganda celebrated this as a victory - and rightly so," writes Stritzel.
According to him, "the world gave Hamas" a temporary victory, which will further inspire other enemies of Israel. The journalist emphasizes that the initial calculation of the top of Hamas that it is necessary to hold out for only a few months turned out to be correct.
"Despite the fact that Hamas has lost thousands of fighters, almost all of its combat-ready battalions have been destroyed, and most of its infrastructure has been destroyed, Hamas remains victorious. They still rule parts of Gaza and their leadership, especially top leaders Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Deif, are still at large. And they still have almost 130 hostages in their power," the journalist states.
According to Stritzel, by putting pressure on Israel, the international community gave the Islamists a much-needed opportunity to regroup and renew their forces.
"The Jewish state will definitely not collapse tomorrow. Six months after the terrible mass murder of the Jews (…) there remains a bitter realization: Israel is alone in its struggle for existence," the Bild correspondent summarizes.
