In Italy, there was an explosion at a hydroelectric power plant, there are casualties

 In Italy, an explosion occurred on April 9 at a hydroelectric power plant located on Lake Suviana, 70 km from the city of Bologna. Four people are known to have died, five more are considered missing.

The explosion occurred on the ninth level underground during work on the turbines.


It is noted that several people remain trapped in the area of the accident, where the flooding of premises began. Rescuers are working on the spot, diving to find survivors.


Helicopters are used for the immediate hospitalization of the victims.


According to the Italian fire service, more than 60 of its employees are involved in the search and rescue operation.


The company that owns the station said there were no signs of damage to the dam. However, energy production is currently halted.


The mayor of Bologna, Matteo Lepore, called the incident "one of the greatest tragedies in modern Italian history."


The cause of the explosion is currently unknown.
