DEVELOPER REVEALED GTA'S BIGGEST MYSTERY: GAMERS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR 20 YEARS

Of all the Grand Theft Auto games, GTA: San Andreas, which was released in 2004, is considered to be the best. But this game has certain features that have puzzled gamers for years. And finally, these mysteries began to be revealed.

One of the developers of the game, Ob Vermey, started a series of posts about GTA in the X social network (formerly Twitter). In them, he answers numerous questions of the players. In particular, he revealed the secret of the random plane crashes that occasionally occurred in the game. None of the players could understand why at a certain moment similar plane crashes were happening near them

Of course, there is nothing strange in the fact that in the game sometimes a plane appears in the sky. It seems mundane until your gameplay is interrupted by an explosion and the wreckage of a plane flying in your direction.

In one of his publications, Vermey confirmed that this aircraft wreckage was not the intention of the developers. On the other hand, they are not gods either. This feature appeared rather due to the technical limitations that existed at that time.

The developers created a code that caused planes to appear in the player's field of vision. This code was supposed to make sure that there are no obstacles in the way of the plane. But it required too many resources from the computer. Then Vermey simplified the algorithm, as a result of which the code often could not detect too "subtle" obstacles. Therefore, the plane could crash, catching, for example, on a lantern.

Vermey specified that the planes "sometimes lost altitude immediately after takeoff because their initial speed might not have produced enough lift." Sometimes the planes had a "doomed flight path" from the start, causing them to crash into random objects or fall to the ground.

In subsequent versions of the game, the artificial intelligence of the plane has improved, so next year in GTA VI we will be able to see a whole fleet of planes in the sky above Vice City.
