Britain will send a Royal Navy ship to boost humanitarian support in the Gaza Strip.
Bloomberg writes about it.
The vessel, along with a pledged expenditure of US$12 million, will support ongoing efforts to establish a maritime corridor from Cyprus to Gaza, which is expected to be operational in early May.
The allocated funds will go towards the delivery of aid, logistical expertise and equipment, including forklifts and storage facilities.
Six months after Hamas militants attacked Israel, the United Nations estimates that at least 75 percent of the population has been displaced and more than half a million people are on the brink of starvation. At least 31,000 Palestinians have died, according to the health ministry, which is run by militants and cannot be verified.
The increase in aid was announced a few days after a rocket attack by the Israeli army killed seven workers of the humanitarian organization World Central Kitchen in Gaza, including three British citizens.
The TsAGAL released the two officers, explaining the strike as "mistaken identification, errors in decision-making and an attack contrary to standard operating procedures."
