A dam has broken: the population is being evacuated from the Russian Orsk

 In Orsk, Orenburg Region of the Russian Federation, the dam of the Ural River broke due to flooding - the evacuation of the population from the zone of possible flooding began. Russian media reported this on Friday, April 5.


It is noted that as a result of the breakthrough, flooding could reach up to 4,000 private residential buildings, where up to 10,000 people live.


The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation is evacuating residents from the area of possible flooding to temporary accommodation centers. Work is underway to strengthen the dam and eliminate the gust.


Previously, more than 3,000 residents of the Orenburg region were evacuated due to flooding, including 721 children.


As of April 5, 1,825 residential buildings and 5,242 household plots in 95 settlements were flooded in the region. A state of emergency is in effect in the Orenburg region.
