A dam broke in Russia: water flooded the city and paralyzed the work of the refinery

At a time when the Russian Federation is dealing devastating blows to Ukrainian hydropower plants, a spring flood is enough to destroy the dams on the territory of the Russian Federation

In the Russian city with the eloquent name of Orsk, houses and businesses are flooded, and the work of the oil refinery "Orsknaftoorgsintez" has been stopped. This is not the result of the work of Ukrainian drones or even saboteurs. The cataclysm occurred due to the breach of a dam on the Ural River.

Details

After the breach of the dam on the Ural River and the rise of water in the Orenburg Region, a flood occurred - 6,300 houses are in the flooded zone. This became the reason for the termination of the Orsk Refinery.

Yesterday, April 7, the level of the Ural River reached 11 meters. The water has already reached the city bus station in Orsk. Nearby is a confectionery factory and fire station No. 16 - they are also at risk of flooding.

In Orsk, several streets have already been closed to traffic, and gas and electricity have been cut off in neighborhoods. Experts say that the peak of the flood has not yet passed and the water level will increase and flood neighboring villages.

The City Hall reported that 4 people died in flooded Orsk: two had a heart attack, one died of natural causes, and another committed suicide.

"Orsknefteorgsintez" is considered one of the main refineries of the aggressor country. The capacity of the plant is 6.6 million tons per year. In addition, the plant produced aviation gas for jet aircraft, having produced 0.178 million tons of this fuel only last year.
