US military destroys Houthi missiles and drones in Yemen

On Monday, March 18, the US military attacked Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen. As a result of the strike, missiles, drones and containers for storing terrorist weapons were destroyed.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the page of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) on the social network X.

It is noted that the military destroyed seven anti-ship missiles, three drones and three weapons storage containers.

"These weapons have been determined to pose an imminent threat to merchant and U.S. Navy vessels in the region," the statement said.

The command noted that these measures are being taken to protect freedom of navigation and ensure the safety of international waters for US Navy ships and merchant vessels.

Yemeni Houthi attacks

Since November 2023, Yemen's Houthis have begun regularly attacking commercial ships in the Strait of Aden and the Red Sea with drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. The first attacks began immediately after the start of the war between Israel and Hamas.
