 The city of Engels in the Saratov region of Russia was attacked by drones on the night of March 20, regional governor Roman Busargin reported in his Telegram channel. According to preliminary data, there are no casualties or damage, he wrote.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the night of March 20, four Ukrainian drones were shot down over the territory of the Saratov Region and one over the Belgorod Region. It is currently impossible to verify this data from independent sources.

Engels residents reported on social networks about a series of explosions in the city. According to them, two to four loud explosions were heard over the city, which "trembled the windows in their frames." Before that, residents heard a siren and the sound of a motor in the sky.

In the city of Engels in the Saratov region of Russia, there is a military airfield where strategic bombers are based. In particular, Russian planes that attack targets in Ukraine take off from it. The airfield, which is about 700 kilometers from the nearest territory controlled by Ukraine, has already been attacked by drones. In total, six Russian servicemen were killed as a result of these strikes. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of Russia claimed that the drones were shot down by anti-aircraft fire, and the military personnel died as a result of falling debris. Ukraine has not officially confirmed or denied that it carried out these strikes.
