Closer to the border with the Russian Federation. Canada transferred one and a half hundred units of military equipment

Canada has supplied 150 military vehicles to Latvia as part of the creation of a multinational Forward Ground Forces (FLF) brigade.

“Over the weekend, 150 vehicles arrived and were unloaded at the port of Riga. These vehicles are part of Canada’s commitment to create a multinational Forward Ground Force (FLF) brigade by the fall of 2024,” the embassy said in a statement.

NATO countries began to strengthen their borders after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. In particular, a number of states increased their contingent on the eastern flank of the Alliance, transferring additional equipment there.

Recently, NATO countries have conducted a number of large-scale exercises and increased defense spending.

In November 2023, 15 Canadian Leopard 2 tanks were delivered to Latvia to strengthen NATO's deterrent presence in the region.
