UN - 78 years old: time to retire

On October 24, the United Nations, created after the end of World War II, celebrates its birthday to maintain and strengthen peace and international security. But for Ukrainians, who, by the way, are among the founders of the UN, this is a rather painful topic. Over the nine years of Russian aggression against Ukraine and almost two years of full-scale war, this platform has not been able to show the world why it was created. The UN was once conceived as an organization that would allow World War III to happen. Now many people talk about her with condemnation. What fatal mistake the world made when creating the UN, and how this organization legalized the Russian war against Ukraine - officer of the 3rd separate assault brigade, historian Alexander Alferov explained on Apostrophe TV.

The entire society after 1945 tried to protect the world from World War III. They began to create international institutions: the United Nations, the Red Cross, organizations that could preserve historical monuments. These are important committees, discussions, platforms. Everyone had to create something to prevent the Third World War from breaking out among those countries that are united by the UN Charter.

But it turned out the other way around. All this time, the UN and all these international organizations included a state that is always a potential aggressor - the Russian Federation. That is why all states tried to contain the aggressor, understanding that it was “difficult” for Russia, it was falling apart, like the Soviet Union, then it had civil wars, the Chechen campaign. But later everyone saw that Russia did not give up its aggressive behavior. We are talking about Transnistria, Georgia and, of course, Ukraine. That is, Russia still “needs” other countries. Undoubtedly, there is also Belarus, which was subjected to economic influence, and then completely...

Let us remember that Ukraine is a co-founding member of the UN. Of all the countries that are members of the UN, Ukraine is one of the countries that gave birth to this organization. Today we see that a co-founding member of the UN is in a position where his country has been showered with fire and death for the 9th year. The UN looks at all this with a certain coldness. At the same time, we see that Russia has been blocking any negotiation processes since 2014, we see that there are satellite countries in the UN that vote the way Russia needs. This all leads to the opinion that this international platform, which was preparing to prevent the Third World War, actually ended up with a Third World War. And in fact, it became not just a platform that saw this war, but a platform through which this Third World War began.

Do you understand what we're talking about? That the UN actually legalized this war in 2014. Its principles, methods and mechanisms did not work because everyone believed that the Third World War would begin in the same way as the First and Second World Wars. But look at this war. When Muscovites find “Mosenki” - the weapons with which the Bolsheviks fought in Petrograd - or when they distributed Maxim machine guns - British machine guns of the late 19th century - and at the same time we are fighting at the expense of “Starlinks”, drones...

This is a completely new generation of war, it is hybrid in many of its manifestations. We have been at war for nine years now, but so far on the international platform, apart from the statements of speakers about the war, it is not recorded in documents. Russia cannot call a war a war. And this whole situation in the world clearly shows us that the United Nations could not find a challenge to the “Asian-Muscovite” tactics. On the tactics that Stalin used while still attacking Poland along with Germany, unleashing the Second World War.

And what did the UN expect, that someone would declare war on someone? No, this cannot be the case in this century. Accordingly, to say that now this platform can do something... Yes, it plays a global, big role in order to at least say something, so that countries can say something. But then, in essence, we see nothing. I will tell you honestly that here in the front-line zone, in the front-line zone, the military often see UN vehicles - missions are driving around. And I’ll tell you that the soldiers’ views on these machines are “amazing,” if not to say that they have some kind of quiet language of hostility.
