In Israel on Saturday, March 30, there were mass protests against the policy of the government of right-wing conservative Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In Tel Aviv, thousands of demonstrators demanded early elections and the return home of all the hostages still held in the Gaza Strip by the terrorists of the Islamist movement Hamas since the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
As dpa reports, 16 people were detained after the clashes between the participants of the protest action and the police, and the police also used water cannons against the protesters, who blocked traffic on the Ayalon highway.
Actions under the slogan "Bring them home immediately!" also took place in other cities of Israel, in particular in Jerusalem, where demonstrators tried to break through the police cordon near Netanyahu's residence. The former head of Israeli military intelligence, General Amos Malka, took part in the action in Caesarea, who called on Netanyahu to resign.
Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas are to continue on March 31 in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. Mediators between the delegations are the USA, Qatar and Egypt.
