Melillo said that the brain consumes about 20 percent of the calories that enter the body. This is more than any other organ in the human body, so nutrition, the doctor claims, directly affects the quality of mental activity. For example, foods containing flavonoids, such as blueberries or apples, according to the doctor, keep the brain young and reduce the risk of developing dementia.

Melillo also called products that have an anti-inflammatory effect useful for the mind. Among them he took greens, ginger, broccoli and turmeric.

And neurobiologist Bredesen added that fatty fish and avocados also benefit the brain, as they contain fats necessary for the health of blood vessels and memory.
