Eurojust supported the Swedish and Spanish authorities in the coordinated arrest of four suspects involved in the wholesale trade and transportation of cannabis and other illicit drugs in Sweden.
This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to Eurojust.
"Eurojust supported the Swedish and Spanish authorities in the coordinated arrest of four suspects involved in the wholesale trade and transportation of cannabis and other illicit drugs. The main suspect organized the reception of drugs in Sweden and their distribution in Stockholm and its surroundings. He was arrested in Spain on the basis of a European arrest warrant for the purpose of his extradition to Sweden," the message reads.
Last week, Eurojust set up a coordination center to help Swedish and Spanish authorities exchange information and execute European arrest warrants and European investigation orders, it said.
Various goods and telecommunications equipment were also searched and seized in the course of the concerted action in both countries.
Based on the interception and decryption of encrypted messages by the Swedish authorities, it was established that in the second half of 2020 the suspects transported, received and stored a large amount of cannabis. There was also a turnover of the synthetic drug MDMA.
At the request of the Swedish authorities, Eurojust established contact with its colleagues in Spain, where the main suspect in this case lived.
