A record shipment of cocaine worth more than $450 million was seized in Bolivia

Law enforcement officers in Bolivia seized a record batch of cocaine, which would be worth more than $451 million on the black market.

According to Ukrinform, this was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Bolivia, Eduardo del Castillo, writes Reuters.

According to him, the consignment of cocaine weighing more than 7.2 tons was supposed to be sent to Belgium. "If you take into account the price of these controlled substances in the country of destination, then we are talking about more than $451 million in drug trafficking," said del Castillo.

According to him, the cargo of drugs was confiscated during a special operation in the Pisiga mountainous region on the border between Bolivia and Chile. "The drugs were hidden in two trucks that were transporting scrap metal that was to be exported to Europe from Chilean ports on the Pacific Ocean," Reuters claims.

According to the minister, the drug dealer was able to escape to the USA because information about the special operation got to the mass media.

Bolivia is one of the world's largest producers of coca, which is used to make cocaine.

As reported, in January, a record batch of cocaine weighing more than 8 tons was seized in Bolivia. The drugs were headed to the Netherlands, where their price was more than $500 million.
