The US Air Force said on Tuesday it had successfully tested an air-based hypersonic weapon in the Pacific Ocean.

Details: The publication said the test was conducted Sunday after a B-52 bomber took off from the island of Guam and fired an ARRW rapid response missile.
"Although the US Air Force called the test a success, they did not disclose the weapon's flight speed. During previous tests, the ARRW flew at a speed of at least five times the speed of sound," writes Reuters.
The publication adds that the United States is not the only one developing hypersonic weapons, the speed and maneuverability of which make it difficult to track and intercept.
Russia has launched hypersonic missiles at targets in Ukraine, and China has tested hypersonic weapons, although it denied this in October.
