Is Macron preparing the ground? Special forces from France may arrive in Ukraine, writes Le Monde

The words of French President Emmanuel Macron that military countries may be sent to Ukraine caused an ambiguous reaction from the world community. But, according to the former employee of the General Directorate of Foreign Security of France, Vincent Crouse, special forces and employees of other special services have been in Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Vincent Kruse told Le Monde about it. He added that special forces can be sent by France to Ukraine to protect "certain territories of Ukraine and to limit attacks from Russia."

A former employee of France's Directorate-General for External Security added that since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine has been visited by numerous undercover statesmen and diplomats linked to Western intelligence services, often with military status. They played their part.

An anonymous Ukrainian source from diplomatic circles reported that there are representatives of all allied countries in Ukraine. It is not about combat units, but, for example, about intelligence. And the question of strengthening the military presence of allies in Ukraine "hangs in the air" since December 2023.

"If there is a supply of weapons, there should be people who physically provide information on how to use the equipment. Ukraine is also used as a testing ground for new equipment. Drones are tested there," the anonymous person added.

Earlier, "Telegraph" reported that the French Foreign Ministry hastened to justify the president's words about sending NATO troops to Ukraine. According to the head of the department, there was "strategic ambiguity".

At the same time, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal said that French troops could be sent to Ukraine to bypass NATO. Despite the statement of the head of the French Foreign Ministry that French soldiers "will not die for Ukraine", the military has a desire to help the Armed Forces. They are ready to protect Ukraine's borders and strengthen air defense.

And after Macron's statements, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg hastened to declare that NATO will not send troops to Ukraine. At least, it is not currently in the plans of the North Atlantic Alliance. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also spoke against it, saying that the country does not want to fight with Russia. He added that Germany is already helping Ukraine sufficiently with weapons and equipment.
