Eating some foods makes it impossible to get rid of belly fat, even if you exercise and follow a healthy diet.
Nutritionist Melissa Rifkin believes so. She listed such products to the publication Eat This, Not That, informs UAINFO.org.
Rifkin said that fat accumulates due to eating the "wrong" type of calories and chronic stress, as well as when daily calorie intake exceeds expenditure.
In her opinion, pies, cakes and cookies can be included in the first category. She advises to exclude them from the diet first of all.
Products that are useful at first glance can also be harmful to the figure - for example, diet yogurt, muesli and cereal bars. Rifkin explained that their composition contains a lot of sugar, which prevents weight loss. For the same reason, she advises against eating canned fruit, beans and barbecue sauce.
“You'd be surprised at the amount of sugar in barbecue sauce. Two tablespoons can contain about 10 grams, and many people use much more when cooking," she says.
The nutritionist noted that the choice of dried fruits should be treated with caution, as they are sweet even by themselves, and their excessive consumption can harm the figure. In addition, they often contain added sugar. Rifkin advised to carefully read the list of ingredients on the package and not to buy dried fruits with sweeteners.
