The most effective way to lose weight has been determined

Scientists from the University of Illinois in Chicago (USA) determined that a calorie-counting diet is more effective in losing weight than intermittent fasting. The results of the study were published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine


The study involved 77 obese people who were divided into three groups. The first group followed a calorie-counting diet, the second - intermittent fasting, and the third - a control group - did not change their eating habits.


A year later, after comparing the participants' performance, the scientists found that those who counted calories lost more weight than others — they lost an average of 5.4 kilograms more than the control group. Intermittent fasting participants lost 4.6 kilograms more than those in the control group.


According to Shuhao Lin, a nutritionist and the lead author of the study, both methods of losing weight have approximately the same effectiveness, but the most popular among those who lose weight is the time-restricted diet. According to him, the simple requirements of intermittent fasting help to adhere to it for a long time without interruption.
