On the night of March 26, airstrikes were carried out on the headquarters of pro-Iranian (allied) forces in Dir al-Zur and Al-Mayadin, in eastern Syria, near the border with Iraq.
RIA Novosti, citing a local source, writes that several military personnel were killed and at least 15 civilians were injured, including women and children.
The report said the attack was carried out by "unknown aircraft."
The London-based monitoring group The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported seven Iranian-backed fighters were killed.
Syrian sources report that as a result of the strike, one of the commanders of the Iranian militia, Haj Askar, was killed and the villa in which he lived was destroyed.
In the past, attacks on targets in this area, according to Syrian and foreign media, were carried out by both the American and Israeli air forces.
