Swiss banks began to close the accounts of Russians: what is known

Some banks in Switzerland have begun to close the accounts of citizens of the country who, in parallel with other citizenships, have a Russian passport, reports DW.

The publication claims that the problem has arisen with several clients of UBS and Credit Suisse who have dual citizenship - and these people pay taxes in Switzerland and do not receive income from Russia, nor do they have tax obligations there.

In addition, Israeli citizens who kept their Russian passports were refused to open an account.

The source writes that banks began to carry out more thorough checks due to the risk of sanctions.
